This project focused on optimizing the user experience for Almatar Stays across both web and mobile channels. Through rigorous behavioral analysis and user research, I identified a critical drop-off point in the booking funnel and re-engineered the single-page layout to support advanced family and corporate room configurations.

The Challenge

Behavioral analytics and UXCam session recordings revealed a major bottleneck where users consistently abandoned the booking process at the single-page stay view.

  • Rigid Room Selection: The system forced standard, blanket room assignments instead of allowing individual room customization.

  • Complex Group Needs: Families and corporate travel managers could not assign specific bed types or guest counts per room.

  • High Cognitive Load: Lack of clear room allocation visibility created user uncertainty right before the high-intent checkout stage.

  • Funnel Drop-Offs: The friction inherent in rigid selection flows directly translated into abandoned bookings and lost conversion potential.

Key Insights

  • Allocation Frustration: Users required granular control over individual rooms (e.g., matching specific room configurations to distinct family members or corporate peers).

  • Pre-Checkout Hesitation: Uncertainty about room distribution caused users to pause, re-evaluate, or abandon the purchase completely.

  • Mobile Layout Constraints: Standard desktop tables failed to translate cleanly to mobile screens, causing confusion during multi-room selection.

The Solution

  • State-Driven Customization Matrix: Engineered an intuitive allocation interface that dynamically activates room-by-room configuration options as soon as dates and total guests are selected.

  • Granular Preference Controls: Enabled users to easily select bed types, occupancy splits, and guest-specific amenities on an individual room level.

  • Streamlined Multi-Guest Logic: Simplified complex booking configurations into clear visual steps, drastically lowering cognitive effort and eliminating guesswork before checkout.
